Even a sea lion loves a game of chase! A sea lion at the San Francisco Zoo popular sea lion exhibit was having a ball chasing a little girl back and forth with just a pane of glade between them.
The two were becoming fast friends, when all of a sudden, the child, clothed in a blue dress and carrying a doll, tripped and fell to the ground. The sea lion halted his game to see if the little girl was alright. The animal hung in the water with a concerned expression on his face. The crowd of spectators were immediately enthralled by the sea lion’s reaction. You can even hear an aunt in the background say, “Oh, he’s worried about her!”
California sea lions are highly social creatures and are even used in military applications by the U.S. Navy Marine Mammal Program. The two sea lions at the Zoo’s Fred Carroll Family Sea Lion Pool were removed after being blinded by injury and disease in their natural habitats.
After watching this video of a sweet sea lion worrying about his little girl buddy, it is easy to see why they are one of the San Francisco Zoo’s most beloved exhibits.
